Summer Body Reboot: Getting in Shape
“You know, I really need to get back in shape again,” the woman said leaning over the desk. “But it’s so darn hard to get back in the swing of things.”
“But it’s even harder to be out of shape,” I replied. “When you’re not exercising, you’re tired all the time and even simple, everyday activities become a chore.”
“You’re right,” she said, “But, it feels so overwhelming. Where do I start?
If you’re like most people, you’ve probably had this same conversation — with yourself or with a friend.
There are many reasons we stop exercising, including having a baby, sustaining an injury, and traveling for work. However, regardless of the reasons you stopped exercising, the reasons to get back in shape are more —boosting your mood, improving your sex life, and enhancing almost every area of your life.
If you’ve not exercised for three months or more, the American College of Sports Medicine suggests consulting with your physician before restarting an exercise program, especially if you suffer from such chronic conditions as arthritis, heart disease, or osteoporosis.
Otherwise, you’re good to go.

Sign up for a Private or Duet
If you are looking for a way to challenge yourself while avoiding injury, privates or duets are the ideal solution. With fewer students to watch, instructors can give you the individualized attention you need, pushing you just hard enough so you get a good workout but not too hard so you don’t get hurt.
Take a Mat Class
Admit it. Equipment classes are fun. All those springs and bars make you feel like you are getting an amazing workout. Of course you are. But did you know, you would get an even harder workout by taking a mat class?
