Pilates + Athletic Conditioning

I started teaching in the Fitness industry at the age of 16. Through the years I taught a variety of classes – Hi and Lo impact aerobics, Step Aerobics, Body Sculpting, Kickboxing, Bootcamp, The Slide, Barre and more. Simultaneously, I also worked as a Personal Trainer. I trained professional athletes, people looking to gain strength and agility, seniors, as well as the novice person just starting out in fitness. My journey took me to NYC over 25 years ago when I saw a small sign in a window that said ‘Pilates gym’. It just so happened that I walked in to Romana’s studio and changed my life.
I had a goal to complete a marathon in every state by the time I turned 50. The training and demands on my body made me rethink teaching group classes and had me focusing strictly on Pilates and of course running. When I became certified to teach Pilates, I changed my focus from group exercise and weight training to Pilates with my clients, making sure they were doing cardio on their own. My private Pilates clientele grew and I never looked back. Until recently…
I started studying fascia over a year ago and realized some basic movements such as squats, lunges, plyometrics, balance and core were very valuable tools for your connective tissue. Also, weight training along with Pilates and cardio are optimal for the body as a whole.
Which brings me to my new class ‘Athletic Conditioning’. You don’t have to be an athlete or an advanced Pilates participant to attend my class. You will be challenged with exercises that don’t have complicated choreography but rather challenge you with simple movements that are sport specific and fun!
