Finding a regular frequency for massage appointments can make a real difference in the way you feel. Regular sessions are optimal to get the maximum benefit. So, how do you know when it’s time to schedule a massage session? Below are some telltale signs you and your body are ready for massage.
If you are a Parent or Caregiver, you likely neglect yourself in order to provide constant assistance to others. Parents, particularly of young children, tend to forget to take time for themselves to reset and recharge their mental and physical states. Likewise, those who work in a caregiving fields like nursing, teaching, etc. find themselves bogged down from giving out more energy and care to others than they receive for themselves. Massage will reinvigorate the sense of well-being for those who give of themselves constantly.
If you sit for hours at a computer, you likely feel the shoulder, back, and neck tension associated with being stuck in a static position. Forearms and hands can get cramped and sore from this as well. You are an ideal candidate for relief through bodywork. Frequent relaxation in any form is a life change worth embracing. Massage would be a great source of decompression and pain relief for you!
If you have a long daily commute or are a frequent flyer, your body is most likely holding on to the residual effects of it. The stress of rush hour traffic can cause tension and anxiety that massage helps to relieve. Similarly, if you are a frequent flyer, being cramped up in airplane seats, or just generally lugging around bags, can wear on your mind and body. Massage can aid the weary traveler and keep you moving along.
If you have an active lifestyle, the daily pangs of workout pain can cause discomfort and annoyance. The circulatory benefits of massage can aid in the movement of blood and lymph through the body as well as generally opening up the muscles and connective tissue of the body. It can alleviate pain and facilitate healing. Adding regular massage to your workout routines can promote quicker recovery time and alleviate some of your aches and pains.
There are many other reasons of signs your body needs massage. If you are unsure what frequency of massage you need, just start going and see! The common recommendation for most is to get a monthly massage session. Try that out for a few months and see how you feel. Once you have regular frequency established, your body and a good Massage Therapist will be able to tell you if you are in need more or less often.
