The topic of self-care has been trending in the last few years; and with good reason. Life can get incredibly busy, stressful, exciting, and even a little chaotic. You may often find it difficult to get any time to yourself…many of us do. Whether it’s work, kids, family, or other such variables, it is all too easy to put everyone and everything else first. While this is not necessarily a bad thing, feelings of burnout may begin to surface if we neglect ourselves as time keeps passing. A little self-care—whatever that means for you—is imperative to staying healthy, motivated, and (let’s be honest) sane.

So what constitutes “self-care”? It can be as simple as exercise, meditation, a hot bath, or reading a book; it could also be a more indulgent activity such as a massage, dinner out, or a vacation away from it all. Self-care is a very personal matter and is different for everyone, but it is something we should all practice in at least some form. Whatever you find works for you, try to include it in your general routine.

Giving ourselves a little self-care and love from time to time helps us feel refreshed and re-energized. By devoting a little time to yourself each day, you will be more ready to lend a hand to others or tackle whatever life throws your way. The moment anyone feels too stressed, exhausted, or burned out, it becomes infinitely harder to accomplish tasks and maintain a healthy attitude. Carving out a bit of time each day or week to do something for YOU will have huge benefits!

It’s important to remember that our personal well-being should always be a priority, even with so much else going on in life. Just as a Reformer requires maintenance and daily care, so do we. So book that Pilates class; go for a brisk walk or have a nice cup of tea; eat a nutritious, balanced meal; plan a trip somewhere; tune into your mind and body to see what you need. A little self-care will work wonders for your health and well-being!
